just picked up 06 Evo IX.... black
The only one Riverside Mitsu had. I put 300 miles on it in 3 days and Im loving every second of it. I noticed that I get a little bit of brake whine, even under normal braking..... is this normal for a brand new evo?
Ill post some pics of it in a lil while. Its super dirty right now from driving it through the mountains all weekend

Congrats on your purchase! That's sweet. As for the brake noise, it's normal. Just like the engine and turbo, the brakes have a very essential break-in period. I hope Mitsu told you, but in the event they didn't, do NOT accelerate too quickly within the first 600 miles. I belive they recommend staying under 3,500 RPM. I stayed under 3,000 to be safe. They also recommend you are gentle on the brakes for the first 800 miles. If you follow all of this, your Evo will be very good to you. Congrats once again and welcome to the Fam!
Congratulations. when i finally get my Evo IX MR (my ultimate dream car) i am going to finish the break in period for the engine by shifting at 2500 rpm - this will be aweomse as the 600 miles that it takes me to shift at such low rpm will build up more and more suspense and anticipation for the actual speed of the car, so by the time the engine's properly broken in, at like 600.01 miles (jk) i will go WOT all day (jk) and have a blast with the car whenever i drive xD also the brake (800 miles for break in it seems); the entire vehicle will be broken-in on the same day i get the car.
damn i envy you =P

you live in riverside area?? nice.. me too.. ive looking for a member in this area.
Well I work in Riverside but I just moved up to Twin Peaks. Actually...... i hit a rock the size of a football the other night driving up the 330 in the rain. Sounded like it dented something, but i put it up on a rack and didnt see anything. Does anyone know of a decent "tuner" shop in this area? I dont wanna take this thing to just any a-hole.

Good luck trying to drive everywhere below 2500 rpms......
An actual good method of breaking an engine, is by varying the speeds. Dont go out on the freeway and make a 300 mile straight shot trip, drive back, have your 600 miles and think she's ready to rip. The bearings need to seat properly, and will do so if you put them under different loads
The same goes for clutches......people seem to think you cant "get on it" at all when you're breaking in a new clutch, and thats totally wrong. You can do all the WOT pulls you want, just in the same gear and shifting easily. When you start banging gears and doing clutch drops, thats where the damage/glazing occurs
