Are Evos THAT expensive to own?

The only advtange of the EVO over other sports cars is the inital purchase price, after that, it hits the wallet hard.
You think so? I got news for you not even close!
The Mistu dealer labor rate is what $45 p/h
Porsche dealer $115 p/h
Ferrari dealer $140 p/h
And that's just labor, never mind the parts! You know to change the timing belt on a 993 it's $1500! And that needs to be done every 30kmi
Trust me, these cars are CHEAP to own compared to any European car!
IMO what makes an Evo expensive, compare to normal cars is that a lot people go through a clutch and tires in 15K miles on a Brand new car. I wouldn't be surprise if those would cost $3K+ at the dealer. Clutch can be upgraded and harder tires can be used, to reduce those cost so that your not doing them every year if daily driving an Evo.
Modifiying any vehicle costs money.
The oil changes, premium gas, brakes pads, do add up but in the grand scheme of costs those aren't that much or that abnormal for a performance vehicle.

Not if you track it, trust me. IF you just cruise around in it, yeah, I would agree.

trust me, the EVO is cheap, even to track compared to other cars. trust me, I've spent almost 10 years on the track. I have an almost $30,000 engine rebuild from Racing.
tires, not matter what car, will be about the same, depending on size, right?
brakes, well, this has a lot to do with skill, but brakes are brakes
Lube, most every one who tracks a car, will change fluids more.
Redline is $7 a qt, no matter what car you have.
The real difference comes down to replacement parts, and upgrades. The cheapest exhaust for a 911 is over $2000, a BBK, for a 911 $5000 for the fronts only.
I would spend about $3000 for a 2 day track weekend, that's not including lodging, and travel.
