I've been viewing the threads on this site for a couple weeks now, and finally decided to post up my intro. At the beginning of the month, I picked up a 2005 MR edition from a dealership in MO. I live in AR (little rock area), and had to drive the 4.5 hours to get it.
Originally, I was looking at getting a GLI (VW JETTA), it's sticker was $28,xxx and some change. I wanted to cover all my bases, or all the ones that I could since I was pre-approved with my credit union for 29K, so I looked around locally. I really didn't find anything better than the Jetta for my plans, being that I am married with two kids. So I asked my friends, and we had many discussions on what to look at. I looked on autotrader.com, and did of my work on it. For laughs I wanted to see if there were any EVOs for sale. In AR, NONE, but I found a red 2005 evo MR edition with just over 10K miles in MO, with a reduced price from $32,999, to $28,999. They had LOTS of interest, and lots of folks trying to finance it, but no real takers. I called up there, and the used car manager was a little doubtful that I would come to take a look being the long drive, and could not garuantee it would be their when I showed up unless I give him a non-refundable deposit. I've never even drove an EVO before, what if I gave him $200 and didn't like it? I would have been out the money, and a wasted drive. So I gave him my loan info, and that I was pre-approved, so he said he would hold it. I got up there, drove it through the parkling lot, stepped into finance, gave him the check, and in less than an hour I was back on my way to LR with a 4+ hour test drive.

The car already had an Alpine CD player, Alpine separates up front, and an Apexi cat-back, after market downpipe, RFL blow-off valve, window tint, and air intake. So Matt's 'Stage I' was already done. In the last two weeks, I've replaced the rear speakers, added two amps, and a 10" Eclipse subwoofer. For gauges I have an EGT, another boost-gauge, and oil pressure. I'm trying to get an AFC done next week with a 255 fuel pump, and if I have money left over some cams (272s). I'm glad I bought it, it makes me smile every day. It's now part of the family, and my girls love it, wife hates it (but you knew that would happen).

I've called a few vendors of the site already to get some ideas, and ask questions. My previous vehicle was an extended cab Chevy P/U. Also, to mention the EVO was my 50th vehicle in my 18 years of driving. I've had Mustangs, MR2s, DSMs, trucks, SUV's, Camaros, etc....If it was fast, or had the potential I was game. Glad to be here. My name on DSM tuners is the same. I've had this screen name on all the sites I belong/ed to.

Yes, I love it. I just wish I could like up with some fellow AR folks and see touch and feel (I mean learn, and exchange ideas).
