Lancer Police Cars?

I am watching CNN and they are talking about the suicide bombings in Jordan that happened tonight and there are a ton of Lancer OZ-Rally (02-03 style) police cars. Are these the same cars that we have? I just found it interesting that they were using base lancers as police cars. Or do they do something to them?

I think some European country (Scotland?) had the Evo 6 as police cars.

I heard somewhere in the UK they use Evos. So it wouldn't surprise me.

things is, cop cars suppose to keep up or surpass the cars that are on the road. So, I wonder what these Lancers got under the hood.

Evo police car in Culpeper, VA

I live near Culpeper Virginia. Its a small town but is growing qwickly as people from Northern VA move out. My dad saw a white Evo on the side of the road and thought it was me. When he got closer he realized it had police lights. He was not sure if it was local or state. Area has a lot of unmarked police cars and most of them are sports cars (vette, camaro, mustang, bmw...and now Evo).

BTW if you are the guy that saw me get pulled over just off of RT 28 in NVA thanks for giving me the WTF did you do look that made the cop think I was racing and give me a RD ticket. He had pulled me over for a BS following to close but when he saw you he let me have it.

(I was not following to close I was cut off. Its the first time I was singled out for owning an Evo.)

Everywhere else but here, the base model has a GDI 1.5 or 1.8 and a 6 speed CVT.

Who was that addressed to? Was this thread even about you getting pulled over? Isn't the poster of this thread in Tacoma Washington? I'm confused.
