Subaru guy, soon to be EVO man

Hi everyone, I've been lurking through the forum for a few months now and have gotten a ton of good info here. I'm currently driving a 320whp WRX wagon, and have decided that after this winter I'll be upgrading to a EVO IX.

I was going to go the STi route, but the new STi design just isn't my style. I have always been on the fence between the EVO and STi, and the new grille on the STi just sent me over the edge. I knew I was getting a white car, and I think the Wicked White kills Subaru's Aspen White.

The more and more I'm talking to people and reading about the EVO, it's an easy decision to go with the EVO now. Way more mod potential and that's my priority at this point.

Just wanted to post to say hi, and I should be joining the car team very soon...

Some pics of my current ride:

Thanks. I want to keep some daily driverabilty to the Evo, but still shoot for the 400whp range. I've had a ton of success with alcohol injection on the WRX, so that will be on the list for the Evo as well.

Nice wagon, you won't be dissapointed even if you have to get rid of your wagon!

great choice. You will love the evo9. I had an evo 8 with 284 awhp and just traded it in on a 9 and I gotta say I think I could roast my old one. Im sure it doesnt have that much HP "will know tomorrow" but it feels great. Pulls steady until redline. My friend just traded in his 04 sti on an 05 evo VIII and couldnt be happier. People may bash wrx/sti on here but they are both awesome cars. I dont think there is a better car for the money than a WRX, but when you compare the sti and evo its soooo close. They are both amazing cars as I have many friends with evo's and sti's. You will love the steering in the evo though, completely different than the sti. One thing that led me away from the sti a while back was the seats. I dont think they are that uncomforatable like everyone says, but they do sit like 3" higher than the evo. That alone makes the car feel weird to me. They are both great cars like I said but I have choosen the evo twice now and am exremely happy with my decision both times

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Yeah, we've had quite a few converts from Subaru to EVO on the ClubWRX forum in the past year. Not a negative review among the bunch since making the switch.

I too agree that the seats in the WRX/STi are too high. I have a set of JDM Recaros in my WRX and they sit 4" lower than stock and it just increases my confidence 10x to be that much closer to the ground.

I am also starting to feel like the STi's are a dime a dozen here in CT. They're an awesome car, but I also go for rarity and the STi just doesn't have that in this area anymore.

I can probably count the # of Evo's that I've seen on one hand. I do have to say that I get more friendly waves from Evo guys than I do from WRX/STi guys, too.

What the heck, two more pics of the wagon:

I too am in the same situation as you, but for different reasons, based on treatment from SOA as a whole. I also cannot see myself driving the new style WRX/STI, they are fugly IMO. I love my WRXs, but I'm done with the SOA run-arounds. The EVO is definately my next car here very very soon.

Ok slight change of plans. I'm now going to sell my wagon. I have posted it on the ClubWRX forum. If anyone here is or knows anyone that's interested, please PM me and I'll send links. I haven't posted it on this forum because I don't have enough posts, which is understandable.

thanks

now if it was a STi Wagon... i'd say keep it and decimate all. But then again, a STi Wagon would be pretty dang hard to find in America >_<
