just put an intake on my lancer oz...
This is my first post, so i'd like to say that i've been reading these forums for awhile now, and I've gotten a lot of helpful hints.
I just bought and installed an AEM cold air intake for my lancer. It's my first real upgrade to the car. I had a couple questions. Because of the placement of the air filter, will it be dangerous to drive in the rain or snow? Will getting the filter wet hurt it, or hurt my car's performance? How often should I replace, or clean the filter? And how much will it cost (to replace)?

ok, no it will not be dangerous to drive in the snow, when you drive in the rain be careful of big puddles, yes getting the intake wet could ruin your engine, hydrolock the motor. Im talking about a big pudle of water not a little mist...and its good to change the filter 5000 miles thats what i did....later

Thanks
I also had one more question i forgot to ask. Since the air filter is sitting right behind the hole for the left fog lamp in my lancer, would it be a good idea to consider replacing the plastic cover with something that'll let air through? I don't know what you call it, but just a grate thingy, like a small grill... (I know there's a name for it, but spare me). Anywho, would this help the air filter get more air? Or only succeed in getting it dirtier quicker?
