MBC...is it really needed?

I was reading another post here regarding not using a MBC if getting a flash. Rather than hijack that thread, I posted another.

I plan on having Al flash my IX, I have a MBC ordered (has not arrived yet). Is there any reason to install the MBC even though I could have Al remove the boost taper and raise the boost limit? I will never run race gas, and once I get tuned I will not be changing the boost level. I am just wondering as without the MBC installed it would not raise as many "red flags" at the dealership, plus the stock look is more my style. If I were to get the same performance either way, would there be any reason to install the MBC or not to install it?

Thanks,

Girlie

Girlie, don't forget to just PM whenever you want an immediate answer...or IM me like you have before.

Anyway, yeah, if you NEVER plan on EVER changing your boost under any circumstance, then don't install an MBC. With Al's flash, you will have rock-solid boost at 20-21psi that holds 20psi to redline before tapering naturally. It will give you one less questionable item in the engine bay and will work flawlessly. The MBC just allows you flexibility for changing boost with the weather, with octane, and with conditions (e.g. snow on the ground).

Ok, thanks for the response. I always run 93, too lazy to change it for snow (will stay home ) and have to drive 2 hours to get anything higher than 93 octane. Maybe I will throw the mbc on my srt4, then the husband may be able to keep up..lol.

Shooting a PM to you now.

Girlie
