Question about MBC and flash
Question about MBC and flash
OK this is a great big newb question but according to Dynoflash's website their mail in flash will "Eliminate boost taper - keeps boost from falling off." So why would you need a MBC? Unless you want to change your boost which you shouldn't be doing if you got it flashed in the first place?
Also would a MBC void the warranty for the entire powertrain? Thanks dudes.

As far as warranty, that is strictly up to the stealership you take your car into.
Buy a MBC and get a Flash. You will be happy you did.

You rely on the boost-controlling flash only if you never want to mess with your car and don't mind only running 20-21psi for the life of the car. If you want true control of your boost and/or want to run more than 20psi on a regular basis like most of us, then you will need an MBC. The flash can eliminate taper, but it can't raise boost.
Both the flash and MBC will potentially void your entire powertrain warranty, but it depends on the dealer. I used to always remove my MBC, but then I got tired of doing it when getting my free maintenance. If I ever had a warranty claim, I'd remove it and some other things, but at this point, my car has really no hope of getting warrantied work related to the powertrain.

I understand what you're saying, but is it really worth while to up the boost, even though the ECU is flashed to run optimally at a certain PSI? If the ECU is already making max power at 20-21 PSI, why increase boost since things like fuel are not set to run at a higher PSI anyways? Thanks for answering.

You can do without it if you want, but it's a very important and very cheap part.

As I said, if you have no intention of ever changing your boost for any reason whatsoever, then you can rely on the boost-controlling flash, but that means you're never gonna make the power you could make, since they can only do 20-21psi barely. Before alky injection, I used to run 22psi daily and then 25psi on race gas. It doesn't matter if the flash is tuned for a certain psi, because you can still make more power with more boost on higher octane. There may also be times when you want to LOWER the boost. It's all about having CONTROL over your boost whenever the situation dictates needing it.

Ah, thank you my friend for the info.

How easy is it for the dealers to see if you have a flash?
