Laptop GPS...
Laptop GPS...UPDATE W/ PICS!!
I recently purchased a really nice laptop stand. I plan on purchasing Microsoft Streets and Trips GPS program and a usb GPS locator. I wanted to see if anyone else has done this yet. If so, how does it work? THANKS!
Update: I have had a chance to use the laptop GPS I earlier discussed in this thread and I am TOTALLY satisfied. Streets and Trips is soooo easy to use and has so many awesome features. A+

I know it looks obnoxious, but it doesn't really get in the way (can't see my passenger side mirror) and someone can still easily sit in the passenger seat.

Please excuse my missing radio. I took it out to change the lights to red to match the OZ gauges!
P.S. If anyone is interested as to how the LCD screen below my radio is fastened: Home Depot, L-brackets, screw into the stock cubby screw holes

I havn't done that but I have Garmin Mobile on my multimedia cell phone and that is awesome. I have a cell holder in my car and it puts the phone right at a good viewing point and it works great. I've never gotten lost with it, and it's actually saved me some time on trips by showing me quicker routes! Way cheaper than buying a navi system or a laptop gps. I actually got it for free, and don't have to pay the monthly fee either.
Well.. I have Streets & Trips on my laptop and PocketPC and I've used both in my lancer before. They work flawlessly. I don't have a stand for my laptop, but I have a little clip that goes on my air vents that holds the pocket pc in place. It works perfect so I can view it while driving if needed. (only when I go on far trips or I don't know where someone's house is)
But if you do a simple search of the forums, you will see someone already custom made their own laptop mount for the lancer. Its one of the cleanest and cheapest installs you can do for a laptop mount in our cars. =)

frag Microsoft - I use Delorme Street Atlas, and it works great. The receiver I use is a bluetooth enabled $100 noname of ebay. I stuff it in the glove box, with an external antenna that's hidden under my 3rd brake light (totally invisble). Then just fire up the laptop (with built in bluetooth) and put it on the passenger seat (or the passenger lap
). No wires, excellent GPS - works for me.

Thanks
I appreciate the feedback. I pruchased Streets and Trips 2006 and a usb gps last night. Streets and trips has the most functions I have ever seen on a GPS. Once installed completely, I will give a review.

I have used both S&T and the Delorme Street Atlas. I prefer the customizability of the Delorme program, but for ease of data entry S&T takes the cake. I use S&T every day for work (delivery driver), when I was first learning the route, I used it with my GPS, but now only use it for referrence of streets I'm not familiar with
Update!!!
I have setup the laptop GPS with Microsoft Streets and Trips...IT IS AWESOME!! There are so many features on it that I haven't even figured out yet, but it is still awesome. I have already planned a weekend trip to NY city to visit a friend with my girlfriend. If anyone is considering doing GPS, I definitley suggest this program. So far, no complaints!!
I had ask if anyone tried the Axim with GPS (PDA). I finally got mine and I love the GPS. I did not get the one with BT, but I have enjoyed it so far. I like being able to able to change vehicles easily. Cool stuff.
I use the Pharos Bluetooth GPS unit with my IPAQ H5555 PDA and got the Tom Tom Software.. it runs great and love it with a pda mount on the dash, but the problems with it is that i can't find a way to use more then 1 state at a time so like a drive toi vegas, can't be scheduled. But i think its the only issue on the pda version.
