Low customer satisfaction

I notice that in the latest Consumers Reports survey only 25% of Lancer buyers say they would buy the car again. This forum seems to have very loyal owners.

Is there anything about the Evo, besides the power and suspension that make it different than the regular Lancer? Is the body stronger? Is it just poor service from the dealers that turns Lancer owners off????

Lancers have terribly hideous resale value. Evo's are the oppossite. Mitsu dealers provide garbage service regardless of the car. I noticed Mitsubishi was the 4th most reliable brand overall though which suprised me.

Yeah, it's an interesting report... the cheap cars on top and the $$$ cars on the bottom. You think you'd have to pay for reliability, but it seems to be the opposite.

Yes, the body is stronger. The Evo is a whole different driving experience to the regular Lancer (I've owned 3 Lancers, 2 of them being Evos). The regular Lancer drives like a boat where you sit high and the car rolls around corners leaving you feeling totally disjointed from the road. The Evo has a lower seating position and everything is where it should be: your hand falls onto the gear stick, press the brake pedal and the accelerator's right next to it making heel/toe second nature, the steering wheel feels like the perfect size in all dimensions and the steering is precise and quick. But, the biggest difference is the fact that you feel connected with the road and the car feels like an extension of your body instead of something you're just sat in. You'd really have to drive an Evo to understand it.

The Evo IS a lancer. that's like saying the Srt-4 is not a neon. I hate when ya'll do that.

I'd buy my evo 100 times over. I love it to death.

I understand that a number of people have said that they are not the same car....I'm curious as to exactly what makes them different besides the engine and the shocks and springs? Is the body stiffer? Is it more solid construction? Or is it the modern equivelent of the old Chevy Nova.....an econobox with a big motor?

The Evo starts with a standard Lancer sedan shell, then some 200 welds and gussets later, it's an Evo shell. The Evo shell is 50% more torsionally stiff than a standard Lancer shell. For instance there is a "V" brace behind the rear seat in the Evo to stiffen the body structure which prevents the Evo from having a rear fold-down seat which regular Lancers have.

The running gear on the Evo is forged aluminum v.s. stamped steel on the regular Lancer.

Front fenders and quarter panels are different to accomodate the wider track of the Evo.

Front fenders, hood and roof (on RS and MR) are aluminum on the Evo to save weight.

I know with my experience at the local stealer, I would never buy another mitsu unless it was an Evo. I still have my warranty, knock on wood, but they are some whiney b!tches.
