Can anyone feel my pain? Today was my day to drive from California's Central Valley to Costa Mesa to trade in my RX-8 for an SSL IX, but everything's going wrong:

First, they don't have my preferred color in stock. Second, the mountain pass (Grapevine) is closed by snow. I'm freaking dying here. Anyway, just thought I'd share. I can almost smell that new-car smell already. Almost.

Can't. Quite. Get there.

You'll be fine bud. In a few hours you'll get a call with them telling you they can get you your color AND snow melts. so in a day or two you'll have your car and be posting how much you love it.


I went to a dealer just to shop, I wound up lucky on my end.They gave me a price, told me what they could/couldn't do and I left because I was unhappy with it. SOmething like 2000 down, 500 a month for 72 mos. I told them 2000 down, 475 for 60. They said they could order me a sun roof, wingless (would have preferred it) Evo and it would be 465 plus 9 dollars a month gap coverage for 72 months, 1800 down. They called me 3 hours later and said the same thing only an extra 10 bucks a month for a silver (wanted white badly) they had on the lot, I drove down and picked it up, drove home. Loving it since.


So YES, I feel your pain.

Thanks, guys. I called my local dealer and they matched the deal from South Coast, dollar for dollar (purchase price & trade in value), with a $500 mark-up for profit. And they did a dealer trade to get me a red SSL.

For me, $500 is worth it, since it saves me an eight-hour+ round-trip drive and I can support my local dealer and maybe even get better service there. So on Tuesday or Weds. my car will arrive.
