for all the daily drivers

I was wanting to hear from anyone that uses the evo daily, how are these cars as far as regular maintenance? Ive owned a dsm, so Im tired of having something new go wrong every week or, which I mostly associate with owning a 14 yr old car. Do you all get lots of little things going on, or have they been nearly trouble free? I know modifications will wear things out sooner, but what about nor things? thanks everyone

Jesse

I have been trouble free other than the grinding issues on some of our cars. These cars should last a really long time if you keep up with your maintenance. Also, the stock clutch sucks!

My 2003 Evo was my DD for 2 1/2 years, and i put ~60,000 miles on it during that time

Some issues i had were:

Abnormal brake pad material transfer (replaced rotors and pads at 17k miles, my cost -$700)
Chronic P0300 (new tranny, replaced under warranty, fixed this issue)

Other than that, just regular maintenance, oil changes, fluids, belts, brake pads, tires was needed. Overall it's not a bad daily driver, just a little more expensive than most.

btw, my DD now is a 1994 Honda Civic.

I daily drive mine 60+miles/day. Just passed 35K miles. Still taking advantage of the free manufacture maintenance program. No mechanical mods except for boost gauge. Stock clutch, no problems 100% reliable so far.

thats kind of what I thought, most any car under 5 years old wont have that much going on with it. Luckily the one Im looking at buying has alreadly replaced the clutch. keep em coming though, Id like to know some other stories as well.

I have an 03 daily driven. No problems at all.
I drag race and autocross all summer and as long as you change all your fluids you'll be fine. Try to find an unmodded one.
Be good to your evo and your evo will be good to you.
Good luck.

I don't know if that's really "lucky", because it could easily mean that the car was driven especially hard...
sorry to be

I use mine as a DD without any probs. Only thing that ever screwed me was the throttle body IC hose popped off due to cheap factory clamps. Other than that just stick to the maintance and you should be fine.

I have now owned 2 evos the first a 2003 and now a 2005. Both were daily drives both trouble free. Like stated already it is very important to keep up on the maint. I also autocross and ocasionaly go to the drag strip. Good luck on your search.
