it is the nature of the mistubishi lancer evolution to draw a crowd of automotive enthusiasts who may or may not...

drive their cars hard

compete in racing

participate in illegal automotive activities

modify their cars

being as such, it is difficult for a dealership to objectively classify what is and what is not warantee repair.

many on this forum will quickly belt out Magnuson-Moss Act and deem it the dealership's responsibility to prove that YOU ARE responsible for the damages and not the manufacturer. this however only requires one step... a tech working for the dealership or even the service manager or disctrict representative "certifying" that your vehicle's damage was your fault. which basically may or may not result in a lot of legal action on your part, which inevitably means you're more screwed than you started off with either way.

PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM must understand that this is not anything to do with MITSUBISHI as a corperation, it has nothing to do with THE CAR.

IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE DEALERSHIP YOU VISIT!!!!!!

this literally means... your results may vary!!!!!

ONLY COME TO THIS FORUM COMPLAINING in order to tell us WHICH DEALERSHIP SHAFTED YOU and under which circumstnaces.

with all this said and these threads carefully viewed. i am not here to tell you that you should do this or that with your car BUT UNDERSTAND that MANY MANY MANY dealerships do not have the competent staff to work on your VERY NEW TO THE MARKET, HIGHLY TECHNICAL, PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE SPORTS CAR!

DO NOT LET INCOMPETENT PEOPLE WORK ON YOUR CAR PERIOD! DO NOT ASSUME THE DEALERSHIP WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR STUPIDITY, they will try to minimize their cost EVERY TIME, if they can screw you they WILL.

with that said... we need to start a list of dealerships that have competent staff!

as an afternote. certain acts of claiming warantee may be interpretted as fraud. what you do with your car and however much you feel mitsubishi is responsible for its state of affrairs is SOLELY UP TO YOU and no one else will claim any responsibility for that. so make your decisions... stand behind them and do not let stupid people work on your car.

Everytime I went to the dealership, I was never denied a repair. I was modded to the bone, then again the TECH lived up the block from me and was real cool. Heres what was done under warranty

1) Belt tensioner
2) Seat back
3) rotors replaced
4) transmission rebuit because it would not go in reverse.
but now I am getting 2nd gear lock out. Next rebuild will be done by Shepard.
