Pulled the trigger!
Pulled the trigger!
In a rapid and unforseen turn of events, my '04 Rx-8 is now in the hands of a new owner, and soon to be on it's way to my humble home will be an '06 Rally Red Evo IX GSR courtesy of the fine folks at SouthCoast
.
Today, I went to the local dealership here in Jacksonville, FL with "SouthCoast ad in hand" in the hopes that I could aviod the lenghty 14 day shipping from the left coast to the right coast, when the GM of the dealership told me to "run, not walk" to the phone and get the car.
Having been a rotary owner for many years, I'm going to miss the sound of 9000 rpm's from the little milk carton of an engine, but I'm truly excited to learn and experience what has to be one of the most unique and unadulerated pure performance sedans in the world.
The 8 was great for what it was; a nice looking, comfortable, nimble handling, underpowered, yet unique car, but it's practicallity was limited despite it's marketing pitch.
Even at my "advanced age" of 43, I look forward to track time with the Evo as it will be fun passing rather than being passed!

....They just basically said no way. The interesting thing was that when I initially went in there, they said "we sell these for sticker", but when I showed them the ad, they more than happy to go right down to invoice without blinking an eye!
The other great thing about SouthCoast is the doc fee of $45 versus what the theives charge here (anywhere from $350 to $700, stamped right on the contract). Sure, it's negotiable, but it's just one more hurdle to climb after you've agreed on a price.
