What IF you skipped breakin?

My evo is @ 3k miles now, and if I recall I accidentally revved to 7.5k a few times, and other times I revved to 7k around the 200-700 mile marker.... I was so used to driving a Honda S2k.... I didn't realize how fast I was going past 5k sometimes.... I can't recall how often, but since im still new to cars, will the damage be immediate? or what are the results?

The car still runs fine, do I have anything to worry about?

It shouldn't have done much, if any, damage. Some people swear by skipping the break in and running their car hard right from the begining.

some other people say this leads to oil consumption in the evo, i'd just keep an eye on the level and see if you ever need to add any. i did the 600 mile "baby" break-in and at 27,000 miles i've never had to add oil between changes.

What happens in break in is that you seat your piston rings to the cyclinder block, so there is less blow by and possible burning of oil. Also your cams get worn in.

Really it depends on how the metal in the motor reacts to heat and if it expands.

Some motors are ok, some need the break in.

Honestly is is just a precaution. Don't forget your cool down though, that is more important than your break in.

There is a huge debate about how to break in an engine. There is a website were they tested a gentle break against a hard out the box break in. They then dynoed them and tore them down to see the difference. I'll find the link then post it. You shold be good with your seating of the rings.

Every vehicle I've ever owned I have broken in HARD. You want those rings to land? Well, make 'em.

I broke my car in half and half.... during day driving i wouldnt take it passed 3500rpm just barely getting into boost and at night i'd take it to 7700rpm and drive a little more aggressive. then at 1,000 miles i changed my oil to royal purple and thats it. she's running strong and fine now.

This means you did a hard break in. Engine revvs are like the Richter scale...... 6krpms is 10 times harder on your engine than 5k, and 7k would be 100 times harder than 5k
