K&N intake **problem** WTF

I just installed a new K&N intake system on my Evo VIII and now its not boosting as high. Is there anything I can do to correct this out side dyno tunning or removal of the new intake?

thanks for the help, Brandon

Did you get the Typhoon? If so, slap yourself, then remove it, re-install the stock intake, then sell it on another forum.

After that, slap yourself again, then do about 10 minutes of searching for that intake here on EvoM.

Not again. Call K&N and tell them you are having problems with the intake and demand a full refund. It worked for me. You just need to be some what of a jerk. Remember not to listen to them when they tell you it is fine.

I talked to the K&N reps at HIN and addressed the problem...they said that its being installed wrong by most evo guys...he said if you contact K&N they will send out the new directions that explain what we are doing wrong...he said also just call K&N and they will explain...

something about the two pieces need to connect and touch...no gaps between the intake pipe and where it connects under the silicone hose. Needs to be a solid connection.

Sorry i cant explain it any better...but call them

I prefer the slap method. No way is every single Evo owner installing it improperly.

They just built a crappy intake and are trying to save what ever money they can. They told me to put my MAS sensor unside down. I told them it is in the mail back to them. This was back in 03. They still have not addressed the problem. That tells me they don't care. I am not going to change my set-up because the did not do their R&D. DO NOT BUY THIS INTAKE!!!! IF YOU HAVE IT RETURN IT!!!

lol yeh this intake sucks....put your stocker back on and pick up a different one. Take this as a good lesson and next time research your parts choices before you buy things like this.

good luck though

Im just advicating for both sides here......what if if beat up alittle and not in perfect shape? Will they still take it back?

I think you should return if they will let you, what do you have to tell them to get your money back....and what if you didn't buy it from them? Do you have to return it to the place you bought?

I would go with the HKS. The only thing that sucks about it is that it to much money.

Guys, are we talking about a drop-in K&N cowl filter that goes INSIDE the original filter box.. coz this is what i'm planning to buy..

or is it the full filter set that competely changes the original cowl?

Thanks..
