....3" Helix DP on my IX MR- No clearance issues
....lancershop.com sells a 3" test pipe for $85 that wont trip your CEL, just bolt it right on- I'm waiting for mine to come to replace my HFC
....as far as a cat-back goes, just find the best deal you can on a 3" exhaust but make sure the design is as close to a straight line as possible... the more bends in it the more restrictive... hell, u can even buy the ebay exhaust for the cat-back- it doesnt matter as long as its straight and lines up ok with the back bumper. dont just buy the one that looks cool because its nice and shiny, because exhausts will look like $hit after you drive around for a little bit- go for most straight thru design

Would I need to flash/tune with just a cat-back exhaust? I know you need to with a downpipe though.

I've got the Perrin 3" SS DP on my IX and it fits like a GLOVE! Beautiful piece too. I'm also running their HFC and it hasn't thrown a CEL yet and seems to work perfectly.

Greddy Evo2 catback, fit is excellent, could be a bit louder but a test pipe and downpipe should fix that soon. It fills the hole perfect in the bumper and is centered exactly in the middle.

I have the Works 70mm, Works HFC and just installed the Greddy Ti in place of my HKS HiPower. I also got the Works P2R Flash and didn't switch the boost line yet so I haven't had a chance for a test drive. Greddy fits perfectly though.

The HKS did have poor fitment. After awhile I did not like how low it hanged and how angled it was. I do LOVE the sound though. I hope the Greddy sounds as good at full rip. I had to dent in the resonator so it did not rub against the driveshaft. If you want to buy the exhaust it fits a IX perfectly now. I did wrap the resonator with several thick terry cloth towels before striking it with a hammer. The piping itself was not effected.

The Greddy tucks up in the bumper better and is angled, but not to the extreme degree that the HiPower is. Greddy is coming out with a new exhaust, the Ti-C which is exactly like the Ti but full stainless and a little quieter. That would be the catback I recommend. I helped my buddy install a Tanabe 70mm DP on his VIII and the fitment was money.
