Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me with certainty when was the first EVO sold to the general public in the USA?

I believe it was the EVO 7, but was it sold in 2001 or 2002 and was it sold as a 2002 or 2003 model year?

Actually it was the VR-4 Galant which was i think Evo 1 or 2 back in the early 90's. Then it was discontinued

 

No, no, no. Once again search, or use google. The Evo 1 is not the Vr-4 Galant. The Evo 1 used the drivetrain from the VR-4...

evo 1 to 9 was always a lancer base not a galant...

 

I think it was in Late Feb or early March of 2003 when they started to ship state side. I got mine in March 2003 after ordering in December 2002 and it was supposed to have been one of the first in that area.

 

I got mine in late March of 03. The first reported purchase was early March on the west coast.

So does that mean that your car might have a production date of 2002? could you check the manufacturer plate on your cars's door seal to see if it has a 2002 production date?

Anyone else out there with a possible 2002 production plate? could you let me know if there are any out there

umm there was some guy on the board that has a yellow evo 8 that claimed he was the first or second person to get the evo in the states
