How many miles to mod??
^^^ agreed.. That's what I did and it seems to pull very hard and it does'nt burn oil so so far so good. I'm leaking a little oil, but other than that, good... the oil leak seems normal on most evo's for some reason. Some people will tell you to mod after your warrenty is up and that's what I tried to do... but here I am with 3k miles, a TBE, and soon to be flashed by WORKS =/

If you don't know what a break-in process is, and you have spent $30k+ for a BRAND NEW EVO, then you should start reading until your eyes bleed by searching for the term "break-in" using the Advanced Search feature on this site.

I'm going to wait awhile to mod. But visiting this site make the temptation to mod greater. Ugh!
I want to get a feel for the "stock" evo before dropping some coins on mods.
On the other hand, its your car do what you want with it.

If you want to start modding it, Maybe start with something that wont have any kind of heavy performance effects like gauges, dress up parts, a catch can maybe. I told myself the same thing when I first got my car. I just loved personalizing my car. I wasn't out to have the fastest evo out there, but i wanted to be THE black evo around my area. Then when you can't stand it anymore, get yourself a TBE and a flash to kick off the modding.
btw to break it in go for about 500(most prefer more than that to be safe) keeping it under 5000 and in boost when you can. avoid highways if possible. Constant rpms with low load doesn't help break in.

You definatly want to wait a bit before you mod if you plan on ever having anything fixed by
under warrenty. Just ask Stew, he bought his exhaust before the car, and is putting a new motor in it a couple thousand miles later, out of pocket (which shouldn't be the case).
I just got my synchros fixed twice, that probably would have never happened. It seems like any factory problems that i hear about the car, seem to happen right around 15,000 miles.
Edit: But that is a stupid off the top of my head generalisation.
