This probly sounds dumb to most everyone on the site but im still new to evo's and all. What is the factory boost level in psi's for a 03 evo VIII? Just a newbie question but if any one could awnser thanks.
are you sure. Dont take this the wrong way but i thought it was lower. The only reason is the I might but this evo VIII from this guy and it has a boost controller on it. He said he has it boosted UP to about 18psi's. So if it was 20 wouldn't he have put the boost down? Now i am even more confussed.
hmm sounds like he doesnt know what he is talkin bout maybe he lowered his boost.. but what would that do.. i dunno... its bout 19-20 psi and in higher gears you tend to get more boost because of more load.. say like 4 th gear would be like 23 and then settle down to bout 20 psi..

Ugh, this has been asked 1000 times. Isn't it easier to search than have 5 people answer who don't know for sure and give you different answers?
03-04s = 19.5psi peak at 3500rpm tapering to 16psi by 6500rpm
05-06s = 20.3psi peak at 3500rpm tapering to 17psi by 6500rpm
No, it should not go higher in higher gears, because the ECU is controlling the boost and keeps it from spiking higher. With an exhaust added, which reduces backpressure, it usually causes boost to increase. Any Evo owner who said he added an MBC and raised the boost to 18psi is a moron.

No, the BOV does not leak and cause it to read lower. Why do people keep posting all of this false info??? Whenever there is a leak like that, the turbo compensates by pushing harder to overcome the leak. The BOV doesn't leak so much that it causes the boost gauge to read lower, sheesh.

Thank you warrtalon. I have a better understanding after your post. I also asked him about it and he said about the 18 psi think he said that it is at 18 more consistent but goes higher at that setting. Like it doesnt tapper down lower than 18. So know i understand a lilttle better. But thanx again because i was so confussed with so many people telling me diffrent stuff.

. Thanx guys anymore feedback please let me know.
