Hey everyone, just wondering if the 2006 evo rs's come with the 2step rev limiter? Is that the same as the launch control?

 

Not sure if the RS comes with one but I know the 06 GSR and MR has it.. I use it all the time at the races here in SD. It kicks in between 5000rpm to 5500rpm. But I know you can always unplug it and rev it higher..

 

All 05s and 06s have the built-in 5k launch limiter. You can call it a 2-step, but that wasn't Mitsu's intention - it does work as launch control, but 5k is too low for my tastes.

 

I just downloaded my base IX rom and noticed it was there. Why do they call it "2-step launch control" ?

It allows you to floor the gas and hold the rpm at a pre-set level, which makes it easier to launch - it also builds boost while bouncing off the limiter.
