IS my Evo on the slower side?

I know this might not be the place for these types of threads but I was just wondering what teh deal was with my new Evo 9...

I ran two Sti's, one was stock and the other had a Exhaust. I was dead even with both of them for most of the race and I only pulled alittle in 4rth gear and little more in 5th....If someone were to ask me a EVo and STI are on par with eachother not that superior like people tend to assume.

Well....... if your shifting is slow and you don't bring it to redline, then you could be making the difference.

Otherwise, the idea is that the Evo will respond a lot better to some minor mods compared to the Sti. Stock for stock the Sti is supposed to be a tiny bit "more powerful" if you've read up on road and track etc for 1/4 time. Drop in an exhaust or even a boost controller and you'll be rolling by sooner.

No, the STI is only a bit more powerful than 03/04s. 05 Evos are equal, and 06s are significantly faster. However, even a slight amount of driver difference could easily negate this. The fact that you pulled on both of them would tell me your IX is just as fast as it should be. What were you expecting when going against cars that are our equal in stock form? Hell, one even had an exhaust, which can give us 25-30whp alone...

I was shifting as fast as I could and I was taking it all the way to redline..It can go alittle past redline I think maybe 2-3 hundred RPMs more if I'm not mistaken.

I also raced another 9 but not an Mr and he only pulled about a half a car on me....He was running high octane and I was only running 90.

Do you think the low octane on my Car was the problem today?

It's always nice to use premium gas.. ie "high octane" if you didn't notice in your manual, it REQUIRES it.

No two cars are built alike, and no two drivers are alike.. there is too much variability to count little things like that.

anything less than 93 and your losing power it says it right in the manual. I got my car reflashed for 91 since there is no 93 in my area. hour probably losing like 30 hp runing 90 octain so your car has like 250 awhp.
