From STI to IX GSR

Just traded today my black 05 STI for a tarmack black IX GSR ,

I love it, has only 20 miles so far. Thanks to Long Beach Mitsubishi, in

Long Beach, California, for giving me a great deal on the car and working me hard, so I could leave the dealership with my new car.

Welcome! You will definately love the evo. As far as the break-in there are a million threads about it....MItsu says 600 miles, some people say 1k miles staying below 5k rpms and varying the rpms...I think one of the important parts though is letting the ngine warm up and cooldown...Basically just dont dog out your car till at least after 600 miles...But like i said many ppl have different opinions on this so just do a little searching on engine break-in...good luck!

Welcome. I came from an 04 STi that was pretty heavily modified to get 345whp. I don't see that being an issue with the 9. For fear out of warranty I would say leave it stock.

I want to thank everyone on this thread for welcoming me, I am really enjoying my car so far. It's fantastic................................., today I was shifting from first to second gear, and missed it, but it stayed on neutral luckily didn't grind it... the only thing is I revved it up to 4,ooo while this was happening. I hope I didn't mess up the engine.

I am thinking on going, I just found out tonight on my first evo meet in longbeach, california about this meet. They it's huge. I was planning to take my car this saturday to the dealership, so they can apply the permaplate on my car. But under these circumstances, I will have to cancel my appointment for next week.

How do you like the IX over the STI so far? I wanted an sti for the longest time; since I was a little kid watching rallies, but the more I read about the evo's and their superiority to mods the more I want one.

just drive it normally. Don't make full boost, rev it to redline, speed shift it, etc... drive it like it's a mom and pop mobile for a few hundred miles. i went 500 before I hopped on mine. You can feel when the engine breaks in. It'll feel zippier. (if that's a word)
