TEIN S. TECH or not

I want to buy springs for my Evo IX. But I can’t make my mind. I do want an aggressive drop. And I am looking for a very sporty drive. I have been looking at the S-Tech springs. I know they are very soft on the STI I have, but am not sure how they are on the Evo. Can you guys help me out choosing the right springs for me?

ThanX.

they will kill your dampers in no time. The drop is too aggressive at 2 inches. Go with swift/tanabe gf210/ or the stiffest being espelir gt.

I have always liked the LOOK of Hotchkis springs. Very nice drop especially w/ some 18" wheels.

go with robispec basic suspension setup or a good set of coilovers. you will ruin the dynamics of the stock evo suspension with a set of springs.

save your money. i hate to sound like a dad but how much are those springs. $300 shipped and installed unless you do it yourself? save the money for some coilovers and you will be much happier. if you are road racing those springs will be more of a hindrance than a plus. i had those springs on my gsr and wrx and they were not the best. i know the ride height on the stockers is not the best looking but they were engineered for a purpose. trust me you will be happier in the long run. if you blow a strut it will cost you a lot of more.

And while we are on the topic of parts. What intake system do you guys suggest? I’m looking to spend around $200 or so on it.

I installed the STechs on my car...had them on for a few months and then swapped them out for the Hotchkis springs. The drop in the front is way too low. They are essentially the "Dress Up" springs from Tien (i.e. not really meant for hard driving). I'd either save my money for coilovers or go with the Hotchkis springs.

you don't want an intake unless you plan on getting tuned for it...stock ecu parameters don't like intakes...get a drop in filter if anything

My s-techs have been on my car for 2 years without any problems. i track the living snot out of my car and I have nothing but good things to say about the s-techs. The feel of the car is great and rotation is awesome.

You can search my name for a full review of my s-techs.

sorry to come into you tread, but i have a spring question. Any way to cut the stock springs to drop the car a bit? I have done that in my race bimmer and my custom cars, but I am not sure how it would work on the evo, and I haven't seen if the base for the sprigs would be able to take a cut spring.

I've got S-techs, they drop the car perfect, I honestly don't know how so many people have had problems with them.

You all know how much the drop is, yet they buy them anyways and then complain it's too low

I have Tein S-Techs on my evo and have never had any problems. I'd recommend them.
