Put the seat beat on with out you sitting in the car, get a scissor cut the belt off and your good to go...j/k...stay safe...buckle up.

I cant believe I'm telling an older man to buckle up, you should be the one telling us.

I know im risking the obvious response that I should just wear my seatbelt, but I too hate that seatbelt chime. Is there a fuse or a means of defeating it? I was told by a mitsu mechanic that if you tamper with it, the airbag light will stay on on the dash, is that true?

I know its the law to wear them, but if we all followed the law all the time we would all have no need for anything more than a toyota camry.

I'm 99% sure it's just a grounding wire from the driver's seat underneath it, just like all the 2g DSM's I've seen. It should be a black wire going to the buckle. (I've seen a driver's side seat taken out a while back, the passenger side I took out myself, but it doesn't have a sensor)

There is a seatbelt harness underneath the drivers seat.
Just unplug that and you're all set.
I work like 2 min away from my house and I cant stand the sound of the chime.
Most of the time I have my belt on if I am driving to other than work.

But yeah, it's a good idea to put it on if you're driving more than a mile.
It's fact, seat belts save lives.
