Well, I just got off the phone with the salesman at South Coast and it turns out that since I am not getting it shipped I have to pay California sales tax before I can drive it off the lot. Michigan secretary of state says that is false, that I pay the sales tax here when the car is registered. Ok so what the hell do I do? I am not going to pay tax in both places! If I do, I will have spent more money than just buying the damn thing here. I am so pissed right now that I dont know what to do. No one can give me a straight answer on this and everyone I know that has bought a car out of state has paid MI sales tax. But the sales man in California says that it is state law to pay tax before you drive. So when I asked more questions about how I get it registered here if I paid his tax he said that they give me a sticker for the window which entitles me registration in California only for 24 hours. WTF, how am I supposed to drive across the country with that in a cop magnet? If any one knows anything about this please let me know. I am about to tell them to shread my contract and stick the remains straight up there you know what!
