Thud/Clunk on hard 1 - 2 shift

Super newbie question.. first AWD car and I was getting on it last night and did a relatively hard 1 - 2 shift and got a thunk from the back area, basically sounded like slack in the drivetrain shifting during the momentary pause between acceleration and then regrabbing hard.. this happen to anybody else?

Car only has 600 miles on it, so I felt kind of bad doing stuff like that already..

I would say it's your exhaust tapping the tranny or some part.... If it's in the back though, unless it's pretty violent, I don't think the drive shaft can clunk the chassis.. but who knows. You sure your spare tire isn't loose?

That's that AWD clunk...STi's have it too! It's happened in my car and heard it won't do damage, but it's hard to believe when you actually hear it! I've read that it's avoidable and it's all in the driving and the way you slip the shift! I dunno! Guess I still haven't learned cause I still do it once in a while.

As for the search...this is why this question is in the "newb" section right? Some searches do take forever. For all the responses to do a search, you could've easily answered the question already!

A slightly slower release of the clutch pedal will solve your problem. Nothing to worry about.
