cone filter sux

Ok, I thought a short ram filter was going to make a power difference but only made noise. I took the short ram off because it wasn't tune for it and ran crappy. I should of listen to the forum. I will be getting a re flash for my down pipe and my turbo back exhaust now.

cone filters can make power when part of a balanced upgrade which include a TBE and a tune.

Glad you figured it out. I feel sorry for all the others who haven't running their intake & bov w/out a tune.

I agree that most intakes make for irregular power curves, and lost of power and response. I have the SBR Vibrant air filter (cone style). It was one of the first mods I put on my IX along with an HKS hipower catback and a RS*R 1 peice downpipe/testpipe. And I must say I can feel good gains with it, untuned may I add (until my MBC and Boost gauge are installed)

After researching I read that intakes arent all that good to have untuned and can actually hurt performance so I took it off and put the stock airbox back on. When I did this I actually notice a loss in top in pull and also in power response.

In the past few weeks I have gone through stages taking the intake off and on. And I must say I do like it better with it on. I am by no means an expert. But, my car has more torque, and top end with improved response at all rpms with the cone filter.

Im sure there is not much difference from one cone filter to the next. But I would without a doubt check out the SBR Vibrant intake filter. for 50 bucks you cant go wrong!
