From everything I can tell the IX is built equally if not better than the VIII's are, and my '04 VIII is virtually stock with the exception of a few cosmetic things. I will turn 48K miles this weekend and I've had no issues with reliability. I've even been having the dealer service it.

I have the 100k mile warranty on mine and I want to do what I can to take advantage of it if I need to. So the dealer is doing the servicing and I have all the receipts. I also don't abuse the car. The last three scheduled services at the dealer have had comments from the service writer about how suprised they are that I'm still on the stock clutch.

In fact a couple weeks ago I went to look at a IX MR they had on the lot and got talking to the sales guy about trade-in value for my VIII. He said that the fact that i'm still on the stock clutch at nearly 50K miles speaks volumes about how I've driven the car. And I definitely have fun with the car, I just don't abuse it.

just keep your evo stock and drive it right and it will be fine....if you modify and race then something is going to break a lot sooner than "normal"....i know a girl that has a viii and she is at 60,000 miles on the stock clutch......i think the clutch problems are mentioned all of the time because people mod their evo and the stock clutch can't handle it....i mean i doesn't make sense for an '06 car to have a bad clutch...i'm sure they've figured it out by now....especially on a performance car.....i mean i could be wrong...this is my first mitsubishi car and i only have 5,000 miles on it so i guess i'm in the same boat as you....i've always owned hondas, toyotas, nissans, etc.....some of them got up to 300,000 miles on them before i sold them and i never had to replace the clutch on any of them....i mean ....i've never heard of a stock clutch going out on a car as long as the car wasn't modded or really really old...like 20 years old....so i guess we'll find out

Not true. You can pull 1.7's all day on the stock clutch. Mine held for 37k before I had to replace it, even after many times at the track.

Evo engine and tranny can handle 600 horsepower the problem is ppl put a boost controller without knowing that when u raise the boost u need more fuel so if you flash tune correctly and check the oil every week u can drive a a 370-380 hp daily the tranny handles alot so i think the only way to hurt the engine is from 5th to 2nd and if u want to break the tranny drive @100mph and put it on reverse which u cant lol

^What do you drive? Oh, that's right. You're one of those guys who just like to comment on issues you don't understand. Try reading the comments from real Evo owners before you come on here and throw some talk around that only makes you look like an incompitent idiot.
