light burns from engine ???

light burns from engine ???

hi,
i'm planning to buy another evo 8 from 2005 but the lights is burning from the engine...
the person told me that it was from changing the cat back...and that the sensors in the exhaust could not de foold.
would he be lying ? of could it be true ??
it does have a ralliart update and has 300+hp
car is from 06/2005 and have 15000km (not miles)

"light is burning from the engine".............not sure what you mean. If you put a catback on, usually you throw a code. That light will come on. You need a cell fix. I believe Perrin sells them.

sorry for my bad english i'm still learning
i mean the light in the dashbord.
but i just wanna know if it's risky to buy. if it's really from the cat back then it could be reset ?

CEL codes are easy to reset.

Bushur and AMS i know sell this "non fouler" plug that should prevent the engine light from coming on for modified exhausts

Answer: yes
Well it's more than likely from the cat-back exhaust and therefore would be fixed. But to be sure, you need to get it run to see what code pops up. More than likely it's from the catback though.

my dealer told me that the only way to reset a code is with the reader.is that true??

if you have and obdII reader you can check the light will most likely be just the exhaust but who knows i would still check it good luck with it

a catback won't trigger a CEL. If he still has a cat, it's something else.

He said that the sensors in the exhaust couldn't be fooled so i imagine the "cat back" is really a turbo back with a cat delete since its cheap.

Cat effeciency codes shouldn't effect performance... I think...
