Gutting the Cat

Guys,

Rather than buy a Cat Delete Pipe (Perrin, etc.,) I've decided to Gut my Stocker so it would Easily Pass a Visual Inpection (you 'Never know')...so a few Q's:

1. Will it then throw a Code (SES)?

2. Will the Boost Increase, based on the Stock IX setting??

3. With my ONLY other Mods being a MBC and Air Filter Delete (Track Only), what kind of a MPH gain should I expect??

4. During Normal Driving will it be Much Louder (Hope Not)???

Thanks!!

Just buy a high flow cat or test pipe with a heat shield cover. If you get the test pipe you will throw codes without a mechanical fix or the perrin o2 fix. I gutted the cat in my 240 and it made it significatly louder and also caused it to shoot fireballs (didnt do it before i gutted the cat).

not impossible, just throw a mechanical 02 fix in and you won't get any code for being catless.

There are 2 o2 sensors. One before the cat and one after. The one before the cat takes a reading of the exhaust gases coming out of the engine. The 2nd o2 sensor after the cat takes a reading to make sure that the cat is working. It compares the 2 readings and if they are off it will throw the CEL light. Thats the basics of it.

Thanks triperfx, although I'm already QUITE Aware of the Function of the 2nd O2, and I Realize it throws a Code, and subsequentally KILLS PERFORMANCE...What I want to know, is what the heck folks are doing to CORRECT The situation?????

look in the "how to" section. There should be the Mechanical o2 fix. You just get some extendres for the threads so the sensor is farther away.
