GOT a EVO RS
GOT a EVO RS
FInally bought that EVO I kept asking about all the time.
It's RS. Pretty busy at work now, so no time to check the specs and compare to other cars, maybe you guys can help
.
The car feels great.
-I think it is missing a lot of sound insulation compared to IX, it's loud! I love it
. EVO IX felt quiter.
-The gears are super short, but I think are the same as in the IX.
-I think the car has an Aluminum roof
-The shifter feels much better then the EVO IX, I think that theory of MR and RS having a different shift linkage checks out.
I drove EVO IX at the dealership and the shifting felt notchier and less precise.
My brother couldn't take it without the stereo, so in the matter of hours he threw in speakers and a deck. The good news is that RS has all the wiring in place, it was easy.
- Car feels like a streetable race car, you can hear all the gear noise, engine noise and suspension is pretty rough. Just exactly what I wanted!
I have a feeling, but not 100% sure YET that I am driving the "nastiest" stock car for under $30,000, I think Lotus Elise and Porsche GT3 is the next step. Of course I drove 350Z, STi, Mustang GT, E46 M3, VW R32 and they all felt really "fat and lazy", but better street cars ofcourse, my daily driver is '01 S4.
At 4k the turbo has a nice kick to it, but I think I like 2006 Mustang GT power curve better, ofcourse Mustang feels like a boat and EVO like a race car (I actually drove a race car before, so I am not just saying it, open wheel car and Focus race car, kinda SWC Touring Car knock off).
At the same time I feel EVO is much much faster than stock stang GT. I'll find out soon enough.
I think we got a real "King of The Hill" here, THE EVO, just my 2c. Really glad I pulled a trigger on it. Now I really see why everyone else was buying these cars like crazy.
Thank you guys, for your help!

Let me get this straight.
EVO has electronic center diff as well as front and rear LSD.
I think Audis only have center diff. Speaking of Audi I put my S4 vs. EVO RS. Stock vs. Stock the EVO owned Audi by several car lengths, maybe even bus lengths.
EVO is pretty insane, lots of power, lighter car combined with very short gearing gives it a very sharp edge. It's a pleasure owning one.
