Help Me Decide Plzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!
Tough One
I have driven the STi and like it for the feel of just being in the car.... it just seems nicer. Its well designed. Excellent performance as well and a butt-load of aftermarket mods available for it. But what turned me off was the handling... I have a very very good friend that allowed me to really dig into his 05 STi and see what the thing could do in real live performance, and it was nice and powerful and all that happy stuff. I would not mind owning one.
But I drove the Evo 8 once on a test drive and was hooked from the first corner I took at a little speed. The harder you drive the car, the more it wants to go harder. It's dang near impossible to lose it in an Evo... not so with the STi. So I think the Evo is safer, has just as much aftermarket support and is a well-balanced machien if you do the upgrades right. The Evo is easier to utterly destroy if you dont mod it correctly... its nearly perfect from the factory, so improving upon it is dangerous business.... and very expensive.

I was tailing an STi tonight, and wound up passing him when our lane got a little slow. Trust me, it wasn't a ricer fly by, just an honest to goodness pass at a reasonable speed.
A few miles down I had to get over three lanes on a bridge to make it to a connector, and sure enough I see the STi come roaring over three lanes to get RIGHT on my tail. We get on the connector and the dude is still tailing me. Eventually i mash it to get to an opening in the right lane so that I can get onto i-95, but he doesn't have as much luck and has to get in further back.
On 95 I look into my rearview and see the STi come flying up the on-ramp, immediately cut over three lanes to the far left, and then go roaring by. To be honest, I was hoping the guy was tailing me to shoot the **** at the mall or something...but ok, he wanted to prove something by flying by I guess.
Later there was a regular WRX with a fart can that tailed me as well, and rather than roll up alongside me on the empty road, he flies by like he's Johnny Badass.
The moral of the story? The Evo driver, moi, had nothing to prove. The WRX / STi drivers, however, had to show off their loud as all hell exhausts like it meant something. True, what happened was in noway a car's fault, but it's interesting to see whom's trying to live up to whom....

Right, i did notice that too.....all the sti owners at least in my area are kind of funny..
I just came home from a sti/evo meet......down in Cleawater FL
There was about 120 cars there, a lot of evo's 70%..LOL....other cars as well,
but only small group of sti'd that came together and left together..they did not talk to anybody else...like they are better then all the other ppl's with evo's nissan's ect....I duuno even when i approach them as an sti owner asked a few questions...you know since im so new to this....There were not friendly or informative at all...
Back to me: I ended up buying this 06 sti gold..... I had it for about 2 weeks now and im not even excited about it, I mean i like the car and all, like everyone is saying the interior looks better then the evo's....but that's where it stops for me..im still thinking about the evo's. And finaly today i went and test drove an Evo9..
So im siting here scratching my head......
I think my 06 sti is going on autotrader tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
