I have a 100% stock 2006 evo IX mr and I am planning on throwing all the mods on at once during the spring or summer so I would like some suggestions since i am a noob when it comes to modding. The car is going to be a DD and i want it reliable and durable more than anything. For now, I wanna keep my ecu unflashed. I know to use search and this is what i have came up with:

- Buschur Racing TBE
- Forge UNOS MBC
- AEM Short Ram Intake (i rather just get an SRS instead of drop-in filters)
- Megan O2 Housing
- Boost Gauge
- Walbro 255 Fuel Pump (With Kit?)
- Cams maybe?

Questions:

Do you need a reflash for a new fuel pump?
Is a new o2 really neccessary?
Is this a good base set up without a flash?
Should i get cams?
Just a random number off the top of my head, will 2000 do the trick?

And completely off topic, does having 1 person in the car matters that much? I did a 3rd gear pull with someone in the car and it seems like my car went no where ><. Does around 150 poounds matter that much.

Please, any suggestions/comments is appreciated.
Why mod when it's just a DD? When you mod the car becomes less reliable, plus you will run into warranty issues..

So when getting a flash, i basically install all my mods, send in the ecu with a list of the mods i have, and then they sen dit back and i should be good? Should then get some sort of data logger

here is how to do it

Step 1. Over night your ECU with a list of the mods.

Step 2. Install your mods

Step 3. Get your ECU back in two days

Step 4. Re-Install your ECU

Step 5. Get in your car and go destroy some muscle cars!

Step 6. Get yourself a licence plate like mine that says "V8 Killa"

but yes just send it off, install your mods, then when you get it back two days later re-install it and you are good. I dont have a logger. I just have a bunch of mods, a boost and oil pressure gauge, and a flash. that is it, and when you get your ECU back and install it i garentee you will think to yourself "That's it??" and to answer that question... "Yes, That's it" the easiest upgrade. cuz the ECU takes less than 10 minutes to remove and install. INFACT if you go to www.dynoflash.com there is a detailed page that tell you exactly how to remove it, what all to include with the ECU (list of your mods and how much money) and what all Al will do to it... Money well spent. If you have any questions either Email Al or call him, he is very profession and very nice and always answered any questions i had. Great guy to work with.

I trusted him to do a mail in flash 2 times and a custom flash where he actually drives the car and runs it on a dyno. He is amazing at what he does.

OH, to answer your other question about the weight thing. This is exactly what i was taught in automotive technology

For a vehicle with around 300 hp, for every 100 pounds you add to a vehicle you lose .1 of a second. so to answer your question... No, you probably wont notice a difference. you MIGHT notice .5 of a second but that is if you have about 3 friends at 150lb each. but if you think about it do you think you could notice in the 1/4 mile a difference between 13.8 seconds and 13.9 seconds? Hope that answers your question.

Here is what you would need to make around 350awhp ...

MBC ~$80-120 (no labor assuming you can do this yourself)
TBE (no cat) ~$800 (no labor assuming you can do this yourself)
Fuel Pump ~$100 w/ kit (no labor, a monkey could do this)
280 Crower Cams w/ ARP headstuds ~$700 w/ install
Custom Tune from a reputable tuner ~$550

Total ~ $2270

Hell if you buy some of these pieces used, you'll get them for much cheaper...

Good luck...

Wow i should have included all of these in 1 post, lol.

well my Evo 8 is my daily driver and these are my mods
Buschur Racing EVO VIII 3" DOWNPIPE
Buschur Racing EVO VIII 3" HIGH FLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTER
Buschur Racing EVO VIII 3" CATBACK
Buschur Racing MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER
Buschur Racing EVO VIII MAF PIPE KIT
Buschur Racing EVO VIII UPPER INTERCOOLER PIPE
Buschur Racing FORGE RS BOV
Buschur Racing RACE FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER
Buschur Racing LOWER INTERCOOLER PIPE
Buschur Racing SHORT THROW SHIFTER
Buschur Racing HKS 272 INTAKE CAMSHAFT
Buschur Racing HKS 272 EXHAUST CAMSHAFT
Buschur Racing APR STUD KIT
Buschur Racing WALBRO 255LPH FUEL PUMP
Exedy Twin Disc Racing Clutch

I get 19 MPG in town and 22 MPG on the highway. Not much different from stock

ALSO if you are looking to upgrade your EVO and you want a good way to do it, this is honestly how i would do it. Buy your parts from either www.Buschurracing.com or www.amsperformance.com. Dont buy a part here and a part there. i made that mistake and then i found myself replacing parts, because when you say "im not going to upgrade that much", it is a lie, you probably dont think it is at the time but it is.

Anyway Buschur racing and AMSperformance are the top two Evo businesses. INFACT both of them have drag cars, and both drag cars are EVOs. but both websites have a page called "upgrade sequence" and they will tell you exactly what parts you need and what you should expect for WHP and 1/4 mile times. AND if you go by that and you wanted to spend $2000.00 here is what you would get...

3" DOWNPIPE
3" HIGHFLOW CAT
3" CATBACK
MANUAL BOOST CONTROLLER
BUSCHUR FLASH
AUTOMETER 30-0-30 BOOST GAUGE
COLUMN MOUNT GAUGE POD
MAF PIPE KIT (the cold air intake)
BATTERY KIT
UPPER I/C PIPE KIT (Setup for OEM BOV)

and you would have about 320 WHP
and around mid 12's for 1/4 mile time

All of that i listed that was from Buschur Racing was their Stage 1 and Stage 2 kit for the Evo 9. The Stage 1 is $1350.00 and the Stage 2 is $630.00. So together you are looking at $1980.00 plus tax.
