Is there a noob guide to ECU tuning, describing the different option and such.

With my Audi, I purchased an extra stock ECU and then had that flashed so I could swap the stock ECU and Flashed ECU for dealer visits, but is there anything like that with the Evo's? Sorry n00b here just tryin to make sense of all these flashing options.
