Greddy blow off affecting warranty?
Greddy blow off affecting warranty?
Hello,
Just picked up a 06 GSR, it was used w/6K and from a used car dealer… (it drives great by the way) but needless to say the "service engine soon" light came on yesterday, and I just want to confirm that a greddy blow off valve will not affect the warranty.
I’m planning to autocross the car and it isn’t legal so it needs to be removed anyway, but now w/that light on I don’t want to bring it to the mitsu dealer and get flagged…
Thanks in advance
Tim

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Go to AutoZone or nearest parts store - have them read the code.
What Greddy BOV are we talking about RS or S? Is it VTA or recir. If its VTA that is your problem. (Search VTA BOV)
What other mods do you have? If none - go back to the stocker. If some - go back to the stocker.

I had a similar problem a long time ago before I put the stock recirc unit back on. My light was actualy caused by the VTA that I was running. It would trip the light when I decelerated quickly, I think it had to do with it not pushing enough air back into the system. The car would either stall out or else it would nearly stall. I am fairly sure that this a problem you could find on most evos with VTA bov's that are not properly tuned for one. Best bet is hit up lancershop or similar sight and get yourself a recirc unit. I would just run to autozone and have them run the code for you, it may be as simple as reseting the ecu, I did this on more than one occasion.
HUh...
Could they really void the warrenty for just a bov?
I thought bov's helped our cars from relieving pressure from the turbo or something or other...
I didnt have any issues when I brought in my car...

It takes all of 10 minutes to swap in the stock one; so if I had an aftermarket blow off valve, I would swap in the stocker whenever I took my car to the dealer.
[QUOTE=SmikeEvo;3768861]Not that great apparently.
Very True... I was thinking of something positive to say...

Dealers take digital photos of all evos that come in to dealers, so take it in with aftermarket parts at your own risk!

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know. I just bought the car last week and I was told it was “stock”… I wasn’t too worried about seeing it under the hood, (and just planned on removing it) but then light came on, hence my “newbie naive” post….
I'm hoping to swing by autozone before work tomorrow am.
