first 1000 miles ,you have boost gauge so no positive boost , don't rev 4000-4500 over, warm it up before you go. 1000 miles change engine oil and you ready to go! This is pain in the butt ,but will you payback later...
the first 400 miles be gently with the breaks they need to get break in too!! also the clucth..

You have to break it in at the track

Actually, the first 400 miles is critical.
You can boost fairly often but don't go over 5k rpm.
As far as brakes go...it's up to you but I did a semi hard brake-in process.

Boosted fairly often and beded-in the brake pads after 100 miles of driving.
I have zero problems with my car.

No going over 5k RPMs in the first 600 miles. You'll also want to vary engine loads and don't go on any roadtrips.

vary boost and load levels for the first 500 miles then change the oil, no launches or hard braking...then drive normal til 3000 miles then change the oil again...

welcome to the rs crew... take it easy for the first 1500 miles, change the oil, then, take it easy for the next 1500 miles, change the oil, after that open that b!tch up.

So many people with different break in procedures.

How bout everyone that posted tell us if you have had any probs with the car and what you dynoed at on what dyno and all the variables so that we can find out what works best.

I just finished my 600 mile break in and am at 700 now. I didnt pass 5K rpms and I gave it varying throttle and never went past 60% throttle. For the next 400 miles I'm still not passing 5K, but now I have given it 3rd gear and 4th gear full throttle.

The motor feels very strong and I have seen it spike to an indicated 1.3-1.4 under full throttle in 3rd. Going to the dyno when i hit 1000 miles. The only issues I have are a ticking/clicking noise coming from the driver side front wheel well that everyone says is normal on the IX.

Other than that I am happy with the car and I have to say that the paint is horrible, and the shifting is really not smooth at lower rpms, but I still love to drive it. =D

Take it easy on the brakes.
Drive it like its meant to be driven. Dont baby it!!!
There have been a few advances in machining over the years the rings wear within the first 20miles not 500, 1k, 2k etc.
Take it to redline let off the gas until you reach a stop do this about 4 times. Drive like you would if it had 20k miles, for the next 500 miles then change the oil. The your done. You can do all this in a weekend. Synthetic every 5k, w/filter.

Done this with:
Ford powerstroke
Dodge cummins (little different break in)
C5 and C6 corvettes
E36, E46 M3
VW 1.8, VR6
Honda B18C5
SR20DET
Jeep 4.0L

NEVER HAD A PROBLEM! Majority of these engines have been disassembled and inspected, looking nearly flawless. Some may have other opinions but Ive had a pretty good track record thus far. Dyno numbers to back up these claims also tend to support this procedure, nothing major (5-10hp) increase but a difference.
