800 miles n already low on oil?!

Well i decided to check my oil level just for the heck of it, since I read lots of people having oil consumption problem.
And I find out that the oil is running pretty low on this brand new car
I've called into the dealer today and asked them if they'll top it off with the "break-in" oil, n the guy said since it's a premium oil, you'll have to pay for it.
I thought new cars with less than 1000 miles shouldn't run low on miles.. don't dealers have something like break-in period where they should do this stuff for free?
anybody have an answer to this?

somrtimes during break-in you will consume some oil. how much are we talking? just pick up a quart of 10w-30 mobil 1, it's factory fill. as long as it's broken in properly, it shouldn't consume much oil. mine doesn't use any between changes with 37K miles.

Big deal. What can it run you, $3-5? Or, buy a quart of Mobil 1 and do it yourself, as already suggested.

Some use oil during break-in and never do again.

Apparently not.

I'm going to check mine today after school. I hope I didn't consume any oil as I don't drive fast.

I just breath a sigh of relief.

I took my car in to Lewisville Mitsu because one day at like 2k miles I checked the oil and it was super low.

Word to all new owners, keep on top of your oil check.

I'm keeping tabs on my oil consuption for sure.
