Evo lX dyno tune Q's

ok here is my prob.

i have a few mods comming to the house shortly. hallman mbc, k&n drop in. and got my boost gauge.

with my last car, i did lots of mods, and i am kind of over it.... if you know what i mean.

im not to sure i want to do a turbo back.....

so the q is.. with a mbc and drop in. what kind of #s would i see with a dyno tune on my lX

i know it will be quite a bit more with a tbe..... but i am just curious.

thanks

look down at the vendor forums and take a gander at what people there are making from their mods. or just search for whp gains and see what you get.

I don't know about numbers, but I believe a TBE gives you more power then a MBC and a drop in.

Depends on who's dyno and who is doing the tuning. If you take your car to Tuning Technologies you should see 290-295whp with those mods and a good tune on that dyno. He will recommend a Fuel Pump though, and that is like what $100. If you do get a TBE, you should be over 300whp, probably between 305-320whp. Like I said that is on Tuning Technologies dyno. Cost for a tune- about $350-$400

Harman Motive, can also do tunes, cost is over $800 though, but your numbers should be a little higher than Tuning Technologies dyno, doesn't mean your car is more powerful, just means their dyno reads higher. Cost for a tune- over $800

If you live up north (California) there are plenty of well known shops that will tune your car, the most famous one being Vishnu (Shiv). He will ask you to dump the MBC though, he doesn't believe in them, and with just a flash and filter, you should make around 270-280whp on his Dyno Dynamics, with a TBE, you would be around 280-290whp, maybe more. Dyno Dynamics read lower than Dyno Jets, so 280whp on a DD is well over 300whp on most Dyno Jets. But Shiv has tuned EVO IXs on Tuning Technologies dyno, and his tuned IXs were making similiar power to IXs tuned by Tuning Technologies with similiar mods. Cost for a Tune (Vishnu)- over $800

So like I said, if you do get your car tuned and dynoed, then you should compare your numbers with other EVOs that have been tuned on the same dyno. All dynos read differently, and you shouldn't get caught up in this dyno racing game. Also remember you are running 91 octane pump gas, 91 octane numbers will always be lower than EVOs running 93-94 octane pump gas.

thank you for the reply^^

i am not caught up in the numbers game.. trust me.. i know they really dont mean ****

my last car i made 495rwhp and 474rwtq.. and my buddy made close to 440rwhp... and his car was quicker..

they were both 04 gtos. tuned by the same guy, on the same dyno.. just different blowers.

i was just curious, to see what 9s were getting with a tune, with out a tbe. i didnt know if it was going to be 50hp down or what.

i will be going to tuning technologies when the time comes.. about 1.5 hours away.

Thanks again!

be careful about taking your car in for warranty work with those mods. i've been reading about people that have had bad experiences with anything other than a drop-in filter.
