O Evo, Evo! Wherefore art thou my Evo?

So I went to my local dealership here in Tulsa, OK, to ask about Evo's - see what they have, what they can tell me etc, etc....

Well I get there - and as I suspected, they didn't have any Evo's in stock. So I was trying to see what could be done to get one. I'm very specific in what I want. I'd like a Graphite Gray SE or ME (but only if the price is right). Well, can't be choosing if they don't have anything?

But the salesman pretty much didn't feel like working with me. He's answer was simply: "Don't have one, and won't have any anytime soon". I was like, awesome.... Generally he wasn't helpful at all. Basically I had to pry answers from him, and asked what we could do. But all he said that he'd have to probably order one from Japan which would take *months*. Riiiiiighhhttt.....

Also, funny thing: He said that they sold the last evo they had about 2 weeks before, and that he had about 8 people asking about them. Yeaaaaahhh.... I don't know, but if I'd be the one working there, and I'd see the correlation, and maybe order a few from somewhere? And I'm making you money on one of those? They seem to be selling like hotcakes!

At this point I'm pretty depressed about that. I looked at some dealerships around here and there, and pretty much I'd have to order one from cities like Dallas (Don Herring Mitsu - and he'd probably have bring one from his other dealership). And I woudln't want to drive a brand new one all the way here, either.

So, I know that I'm not going to be buying the car *this minute* - I was actually going to save some money, and maybe pick an evo in 2ish months from now, but then I started thinking that this would be really close to the Evo X premiere. On the other hand, I'm thinking that X's may be little more expensive.....

Should I wait?

Being that the evo is no longer in production, Id say your going to have a hard time finding what you want, if anything.
You could make a trek to Cali. all the last evos where bought from Cali dealerships.

There's plenty of used ones out there too, just look around. You can find a good deal on cars with a few thousand miles on them!

Yeaaaah... I figured that out.... It was mostly a rant at my dealership. "I want one - bring me one - I'm making you money" - kind of thing. My concern about evo X is that it may be a more expensive that IX's.

You don't even have to make the trek to Cali, call South Coast Mitsu and they'll deliver the car to your door. They still have ~200 in stock, so they'll probably have what you're looking for.

I'm not saying you shouldn't wait for the X. I'm just pointing out that there are still new IX's to be had.

My local dealer had no Evos on the lot when I bought my RS and later the SE. They got the cars for me from other dealers, and I paid the relatively small shipping fees. I'm surprised you weren't given a similar option.

dallas is to far to drive? hell give don herring a call, they have vendor status here on evom. don herring himself posts up often in the south forum. the drive is pretty close (250 miles) and if it were to make a sale (at least if i were the salesman), that drive could be done in an afternoon on a truck with a trailer.... which i know they have. i'm not speaking for don herring though, so give him a call or PM him here....

Oh, I know it's not that far - it's about a 4 hr drive. Not that big of a deal. But I was still *very* annoyed with my sales guy. Maybe it was just him - can't judge the whole dealership....

And if the X's *are* indeed going to be over 40k, I'm really considering IX SE...
