FMIC and Piping is it worth it?
FMIC and Piping is it worth it?
I just ripped apart my IX to change intercoolers and noticed that the factory piping is the same size, mandrel bent, and lighter. It does make a few more turns like 1.
The only thing I see is the LICP is small from the turbo then regains size just before the bend, could pose some head pressure.
the stock FMIC is by far lighter and isnt much smaller, the only thing is it might not be as effecient as cooling since its tanks are smaller and interior design.
Has anyone else noticed this or tested the psi drop and cfm through the stock compared to aftermarket??????????????

it's worth it,specially if you tuned for it. The after market FMIC will dropp the pressure ..but that is why you buy a good one/less dropp and better cooling/ and retune it.
I found different threads on intercooler internals but nothing on pressure drop and cfm through stock stuff compared to aftermarket. the outlet on the IX turbo is only about 1.5 so only so much air at psi can go through it.
