Daily Driver in Alaska?

I am considering the purchase of an Evolution but would be using it as a daily driver. I have no doubt about its performance, but how is it driving day in and day out in traffic? I hear the ride is harsher than a Boxster S. Since I have not ridden in either, it doesn't help much. I don't mind a tight ride, having driven a harsh '67 Mustang (great car with tight aftermarket suspension) from Oklahoma to Alaska, but I would like people’s opinions. I don't want a car that will cause me to bite my tongue over every crack on the road and possibly give me a headache from head banging down the highway. The WRX STI sounds like it might be a bit softer ride. Hard to test drive the Evo up here in Alaska and I'll probably be ordering from out of state.

Thanks for any input.

BTW, anyone think it would be possible to get a smaller rim over the brake rotors for studded winter tires? Snow tires would be must and studded tires would be preferred. I assume the Evo uses the same bolt pattern as the regular Lancer...

Get it out of state trust me I did. Also If you want a ride in one PM me. I am not quite at the point at where I will let someone else drive mine yet. I am looking into studded tires right not. Quotes I have gotten locally are up 1g installed. I am not going to pay that much for dam sure.

Evo is stiffer than an STI no question, I have driven both. I think the EVO makes a fine daily driver, it is a bit firm side, but IMO not harsh except on rough pavement.

I drive my car in stop and go traffic everyday around Wash. DC and have no regrets or complaints.

As far as smaller winter tires, forget it. I have been looking for a set of steelies myself and have had no luck at all. Best thing to do is get a set of descent winter tires for the stockers.
