have an rnr and it's alright.
if I was buying a new one, I would buy from horsepowerfreaks. have been impressed with the few pieces I have ordered from them, and price is good.
buschur makes a good unit as well, but have heard about a waiting list. there are a lot of other good exhausts out there without having to wait for it.
where's al(dynoflash). he could tell you more than you ever cared to know about exhausts

i have an rmr catback that i got for $350 used, and then i bought invidia downpipe and ultimate racing high flow cat.
it isnt crazy loud or anything, pretty quiet actually, but it sounds real nice. used you can definitly find well under 1k for all of it, brand new you can also find stuff for under 1k. i used z1auto.com when i bought the dp and cat. i emailed adam, and he gave me suggestions and i was gunna get a whole new turboback for under 1k, so see what he can do for you.

Also as noted above the RMR is not the same as RNR...
RMR is from Rhys Millen (Drifter) and Son of Rally legend Reese Millen.

I have a RNR Tuboback w/ Test Pipe for $600, but it's a little bit louder than expected, meaning I set off car alarms every where I go. The Buschur is a very nice exhaust not too expensive, not too loud, and light weight.
I agree if the RNR is TSUDO it is deep and sounds good but is a bit loud.
I have a Tannabe Concept G Blue TBE with cat delete.. it's very loud and mean sounding makes good power, and more importantly it fit my IX MR perfectly - it also looks good from the back and the muffler has curb clearance. Where we live loud is not a problem and its tone is not excessively loud except during WOT, and it came with a silencer if you want to use it (maybe for trips or to go to the dealer), it does set off some alarms occaisonally. It also has a EGT bung in the DP and an o2 bung in the catback section. No extra bung for wideband in the test pipe though. I added a second o2 bung in the catback section for my wideband since there is more clearance back there. Oh yea, It's JDM style.. very little curves.. actually just 1 mild curve int he CB area. The DP is 2.75" not 3".
I had a HKS catback that eventually started rubbing the carrier bearing against the resonator no matter how it was adjusted - it didnt do it at first so I guess the hangers stretched a little. Also the can on this exhaust was so big it rubbed in extreme dips etc. I dont like slowing down for dips to avoid rubbing in a rally inspired car.
And finally The differences in power from 1 exhaust to another are going to minimal.. say 5hp for example.. when a car makes 300whp you are not going to be able to tell the difference in 5hp from one exhaust to another. That's like 1.75%. I say purchase your exhaust based on what's important to you - price, appearance, weight, brand, quality, fit, customer support, etc.
