Good luck with your possible purchase. A used car like the Evo is always a gamble, you never know how the previous owner/owner's treated it.

Make sure you get a compression, and boost leak down test performed.

What mods are on it already? That will help us alot to tell if the previous owner knew anything about their car. I wouldn't mind helping, and if you'd like me to look the car over that would be fine too. I'm on my third evo now, so I'm familiar with most the problems they can have.

Also for anything performance related I'd send KevinD a PM or give Jo-tech a call. Those are your best options in DFW. Welcome to the site, btw

John

Does it have an exhaust? If so is it a full exhaust, from the turbo back? What I was saying is if you wanted, I could meet you sometime to take a look at the car before you buy it.

Have you driven the car yet? Things I would look for are

1. notchy tranny, esp 4th and 5th gear
2. check what kind of tires are on it, this will say alot about the owner as well
3. try to find out when he had the clutch replaced, there is no reason it should be replaced anything before 25k miles
4. If the car does have a stock exhaust was it tuned with the stock exhaust? Or did he just sell the aftermarket exhaust and put the stocker back on. This will greatly affect how the car runs if this is the case.
5. does the car have a manual boost controller?

There are alot of little things like this that speak volumes about the previous owner.
