Car shuts off when rpm dips...HELP PLEASE!!!

I apologize if this issue has already been mentioned in the past, but is my problem related to the knock sensor stated in previous discussions:

Mods: tbe, mbc and intake.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the needle everyone once in awhile drops below 1K rpms and catches itself to remain on but then at times the engine will shut off? This occurs infrequently between signal lights and/or stops.

Example: I’ll be accelerating in 3rd gear and when I approach a signal light to stop, I’ll drop the clutch put it in neutral and slowly cruise to a halt. The needle will slowly dip down, then all of a sudden the car just shuts off. I have no problems restarting the car, but it worries me it would die like this.

Lastly, should I have the dealership look at this or take it to any shop?

Please state what other information is needed to further diagnose the problem and thanks for everyone’s valuable input.

Intake and no tune will cause this to happen.

Its normal for that mod.

Get a tune FTW.

Neither. Find a good Evo specific tuner and you'll be good.

One thing that will help until you figure it out is to wait longer before popping he clutch in. In other words start braking and get slowed pretty good then put the clutch in. I noticed that would happen to me if I was tached up and just put the clutch in quickly.

ummm, did you ever check the idler needle on the thorttle body? sorry what car is this? Hmmmm I dont think the intake can do that because a lot of evos run with intake and exhaust without a tune.

Thanks members for all the valuable info!

My car is an '03 and it's not tuned. Sounds like I should tune it, but I'll do that when I get the cams, gears installed. I didn't know if getting the cams in would further complicate this problem.

Danny23: I apologize, I do have a GFB Bov.

glgz: Thanks for the advise, that's what I'll do to minimize it.

timmiii: I don't know how to check the needle on the throttle body, but I'll mention that to the tuner/mechanic.

THANKS ALOT FELLOW MEMBERS, ANYONE ELSE, KEEP EM COMMING!!!

Did you put the bov pipe back into the intake ?

Did all of this start when you installed the intake, or had the intake installed ?

Yes, I believe the bov is back into the intake. I bought the car with the intake already installed, so I don't know what it was like before.

Same thing happens to me. I'm on stock BOV with similar mods. I'm even tuned (through the mail), but it still happens at lights and when I go and stop suddenly at very slow speeds.

You'll learn to feather the gas when you do that and you won't stall. No problem with your car, it's just annoying.
