I am not an evo owner, but...
I love evos! I unfortunately own an 04 ES. I am not saying its a bad car, I just don't have the funds to purchase a 30k ride. I was wondering though, what do all the abbreviations mean? Like GSR, MR, SSL, RS...etc. I know there are the base models of the Evo VIII and IX. But what does the other stuff stand for and which one is better?
BTW: If anybody has a Silver Evo IX for 20k and would like to take an ES for trade I would be glad to talk!
Thanks

GSR/MR/SSL/RS are all option based models...
In terms of price:
RS - Stripped down version for weight
GSR - Has Enkei wheels, radio, sound deadening, etc...
SSL - Sun roof, leather seats, and audio upgraded
MR - Has BBS wheels, aluminum roof, Bilsteins, etc..

i think RS stands for rally sport.
MR stands for mitsubishi racing.
SSL means sun sound and leather.
i never did figure out what gsr stood for.
but like heSOshAdy stated, they also all denote different options.
you can take a look at the differences at www.mitsucars.com
i believe there though, the gsr is just called the IX. then there are the RS and MR trims, with SSL as an option package on the GSR (IX).
