I have a dilemma here guys. I’m in the process of buying an Evo IX. My first choice was to buy a WW IX GSR which doesn’t seem as a realistic possibility being that there don’t seem to be any in the Mid Atlantic area and I’m trading my car in with a specific dealer here in Va. who is not willing to ship across country or different regions being that I’m getting a VIP discount. I do have the option of buying a WW IX MR but the price differential is the only thing holding me back. There are many GG / Silver SEs on the east coast but my first love is the WW IX.
-How many IX MRs are in the 11s as a daily driver with very minimal mods (Intake, TBE, FP, Flash, etc.)?
-I do plan on occasionally tracking the car (drag) and my only goal it get the car in the 11s in street trim. Would I have a valid concern with the 6sp. transmission potentially going out?
Would you get the MR or would you settle for a GG/ Silver SE?

IX GSR SE ftw!.
I would not waste 3g's for just... 6spd(which is weaker than 5spd), zero lift kit, vg, bilstein. Cuz if u are planning on tracking the car. I wouldn't go with the 6spd.

I originally planned to get a WW IX. But after seeing the WW IX MR on the lot, I changed my mind on the spot and got the MR.

well it depends. If you got the money to get the MR. if you think $4k more is worth the money from a IXse towards the IXmr go for it.
Yea, see the thing is that my first and pretty much only choice was the WW GSR and I really feel like Im settling by getting a GG or Silver IX.

That is one of my concers that the 6sp might go on me with a few passes on it. I dont plan on making anything more than ~375whp. Would it still be a concern?Originally Posted by thaigleshmk

or you could just get the IXse and just use the extra $4k to get some aftermarket parts

In a perfect world, the SE would be availble in wicked white...
I personally would not settle with any other color unless you liked the alternate color AS MUCH as you like white. with such a big investment, you should get what you want.

If you plan on making 375whp and I assume somewhere in the neighborhood of 350lb-ft of torque do yourself a favor and do NOT get the MR. The 6 speed in most sensative to heat, but 4th likes to lose teeth with any reasonable amount of torque.
The more I hear from you guys, the more Im leaning away from the MR. I might just settle on the GG/ Silver SE.
Does anyone have any pull here to get me the WW GSR transferred over to the VA stealer?

While you may feel that you are settling on color for the SE, you're getting a better car. Aluminum roof panel, BBS wheels, etc.

the SE is the way to go..i had the same option as you and extremely happy that i sticked with the SE...put it this way....would you rather spend 4000$ on an extra gear that does nothing but weaken your tranny? or spend the 4000$ and easily get passed the 350whp mark?
