oil pressure and oil temp

I have these two gauges and I am wondering if they are both going to go to the same connection point? Is it pointless to have both of these gauges?

Boost, oil temp, water temp, fuel pressure, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and maybe EGT

A friend of mine just blew his engine on a long high-G sweeper. An oil pressure gauge would have warned him that the oil pressure had dropped, and given him the opportunity to save his engine. For track, the above gauges should be de rigeur, and perhaps a surge tank and oil pan.
