Need help and professional opinions on my decision to get an EVO.

Hi,

I am a current owner of an 06 S2000. In a nutshell, I LOVE this car... I love the way it feels, I love the high revving engine, and best of all the gearbox feels awesome. This is the funnest car I have ever driven/owned.

My previous cars were:

05 IS300 (Turbo 7psi)
05 Scion xB
03 Acura NSX
01 IS300
95 Prelude SE

And yes, the S2000 does feel better to be than my previous IS Turbo, and NSX.

And some others not worth mentioning...

Anyways, I have always been a huge fan of Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus automobiles. I have never been into mitsubishi at all. However, it is the EVO that totally sticks out. I have driven the WRX, WRX STI, and an EVO VIII and IX (IX just today) and hands down the EVO is clearly the choice. Turbo feels REALLY strong, handling is awesome... and I dont want to get flamed for this one but the two things I didnt like was how sensitive the steering was.. I do like sensitive steering BUT not when you can pretty much turn the wheel with your pinky, maybe its something I would have to get used to. The 2nd thing is the interior. I know it aint no Lexus, but its pretty much a lancer with sweet seats, a better shifter, and upgraded steering wheel.

However, I must say the drive on the EVO is awesome.. It is something I have never felt before. It pushed you in the seat once the turbo starts to spool and the seats hug you like crazy in tight cornering.

Even though I love modding my cars, I only like keeping them for 2 years max. I usually lease my cars then sell them. However, on the EVO, I noticed you cannot lease unless you want to pay over $500/month with minimum drive off. Financing is the only way. My girl friend is trying to keep me away from the EVO since she thinks it looks too "childish" and "immature". I tell her I love the mean looks and the fun you have driving it and modding it. She doesn't know how to drive manual so I dont think she will ever know how fun this car can be to drive.

So now, I am just rambling on... Anyways, from what I have stated, (Being 27 years old), would it be a good idea to get a new EVO? I would probably end up keeping my S2k since I love the drive so much. I know everyone is biased here but try to give me a non biased, true opinion. I am unsure if I should pick one up... Especially with the sale going on right now, it is really tempting. I was considering White, Apex Silver, or Black. It seems like the Blue is sold out here in SoCal.

One more thing, is the IX SSL, more worth it or SE? I would obviously like one which keeps its value higher being that I am financing rather than leasing.

Thanks to anyone in advance for sharing their informative opinions and reading my short story of a first post on this forum.

one blue left, its here in roseville. don't get silver, my 2 cents.

I think it would help if you could tell us ... about how much modding you've put into your s2k. for resale value... SSL package..?
..

lastly... does your girlfriend like the STI looks better? check the wingless threads, see if you like that look better

ok dude honestly im not flaming and im trying to be as unbiased as possible. you like to jump around cars a lot and play with what you like / want. i think you would be best off to buy about an 03-05 modded out evo and just have fun with it. a new evo is kind of like getting a pet, you have to put up with getting used to it for the first few months and then you get attached. that s2000 is going to go from seeing daily driving and the evo on the weekend to the evo getting all the attention. trust me, you will mod your evo its only a matter of time. So if you want a car that will take over... get the evo. otherwise stay away from it. you will get chased down by ricers and other evo owners just to get to know you, it will introduce you to an entirely new community. and my biggest suggestion if you do buy one. get to the CARS limit before you mod... not your limit. unless your at the point where your foots on the floor and your wanting more power... dont upgrade because its your limit youve reached not the cars :-p

short summary.
if the girlfriend doesnt like your decisions thats part of being an individual, your decisions dont have to be popular. hence the "your" decisions
its the most fun thing youll drive, the phrase "***** in your buttcrack" will take on new meaning.
and a non awd car will never compare to an awd car. once you go awd you wont go back

oh... on a second note. dont say professional. youll get every twit on this board with an honorary mitsubishi expert for a day crackerjack box laminated card in here telling you "how it is" lol. in the end drive it yourself and decide :-p and if you dont like the looks... CHANGE THEM :-)

Personally the Evo is one of my dream cars and I would recommend it to anyone who loves cars or loves driving. I am actually looking at getting a used S2K for a 3rd car cuz i want a rwd. Anyway I don't think you will regret your decision if you get an Evo. I don't know which one hold its value the best but my personally, I would go with the special edition for the lighter roof and not have that heavy a$$ sunroof on the top of the car. IMO the Evo gives you the most performance for any car anywhere close to it in $. As far as it looking immature I will probably have and continue to drive mine until I can't drive anymore.

Of the colors you mentioned I'd get black.
