Stop sign ticket help

Sucks right before I planned to get an evo and my record clean 3years I got a stop sign citation for 107$. And points suppose to be given. Anyone that can help. I got it in Norristown Area (kingofprussia) and I'm not sure if I should get a lawyer or not for it. Lots of people told me that if I show up and plead not guilty hopefully they will drop the points and just make me pay the fine. I'm not sure how nice the courts are around that area. Is it worth paying 300+ bucks for a lawyer to save my pts? will he really make a difference? I know it helps. Thanks.

Any Defensive driving courses up there? Take the class, no points, just pay the fine?

No. I dont need that. We only have to take that when we go over 7pts. I have 0 atm. And this would cost me 3pts. My goal is to just pay the fine and waive the points. I just dont know if the cost of lawyer fees and a lawyer would help.

Lancerguy, Thanks a lot for that help. I'll do it first thing tomorrow and keep you posted. Some lawyer advice would really help. He would really tell me honestly if I really needed a lawyer or not?

Around here, they usually don't check into your record when you register a new car. The insurance companies don't actually check anything unless you get into an accident, for the most part.

I got one for a stop sign and a red light right after one another. The cop was behind me and I did not know. I went to court and pleaded guilty. I explained to the judge that I was in a hurry and understood that my actions were not explainable and I did wrong. I told him that I feel I should be fined due to me being guilty but I was concerned with the points. Both carried two points and I was hoping to get it dropped to two total. I asked that one violation be changed to I 'Failure to obay a traffic device' which does not go on your record and carries no points. When I arrived in court the judge understood and the cop said to the judge that he did not mind it getting changed. They debated which to change and the cop kept saying he did not care. Finally the judge got the $hits of it and just changed both. The fine stayed but no points and a clear record! I was satisfied. Just be honest, usually it works to your benifit!

Yes. i wanted to go with that approach too. I wanted to say I deserved paying the fine and was in a rush and didnt want points. But I'm not sure if i need a lawyer for that or not to help me get past it. I really dont want the points and wouldnt mind paying my fine. I heard from a lawyer about that "failure to obey a driving device" (plead 3301 or something like that) and hopefully i wont have to pay 300+ for lawyer fees, thanks everyone so much for the quick replies and advice

Get the Evo now and have it insured before it appears on you record. Get the longest policy they can offer.

All I know is that I did a Cali stop (5mph max) through the exiting stop sign at the local Walmart. Get a grocery trip... Not in a hurry at all. Cop said I blatently ran it and I'm getting and the points and the full fine. Even told that truth, and I knew I rolled through it and didn't come to a complete stop... But d@mn, not even a break! F'n rookie cops... Funny thing though, a week after my court appearrence the cop showed up at my wifes work for a stress test (heart, breathing, etc etc). She shoulda said he had drugs in his system or something and said he failed everything! LOL Too bad she's the honest type.
